Letter: Vote no on the school bond

Ocean Beach School District is not looking out for the voters. They want to pass a $96.2 million bond for new schools in Ilwaco, which will end up at $144 million after 25 years with interest and fees — not $96.2 million.

OBSD was asked to wait until after April 26 to see what the state will do to help from two seismic-safety bills signed by the governor, but OBSD refused.

There was a statement made by a OBSD board members at a public meeting that they need to get the new bond in place before taxpayers get used to not paying the extra tax when the old one for $23 million is soon paid off.

I ask myself why would they refuse? Because they must have children in the Ilwaco schools. I would love to see the Ocean Park School saved. Our children are grown and no longer live here. Please vote no on the school bond.
