April 8 — Jerrett L. Cornett, 49, of Ocean Park, was cited for hit-and-run of a person at about 1:45 p.m. in downtown Long Beach. The victim said a vehicle driven by Cornett struck her as she was walking in a convenience store parking lot and then left. She got a plate and a good description. She was not injured other than her right knee was a little sore. An officer made contact with the driver, who said he thought she had slapped his window. He claimed that he asked her if she was OK and when she did not respond he left.

She believes she lost her wallet two days ago, either at a Long Beach restaurant or it was taken from her purse in her house in Ilwaco. When she arrived home on the 11th, her house door was open and her purse (with wallet inside) was hanging near the door. At first she thought it was the wind, but then her husband noticed their locks had been messed with, so she thinks maybe someone entered her house and took her card. She notified the bank that her card had been taken, and they looked and someone used $300 at Apple and attempted more on Google (a $1 temporary charge was placed on the card, but it did not go through). The case remains under investigation.
