Special filing period begins May 31

SOUTH BEND — A special filing period for a handful of offices up for election this fall is set to get underway Wednesday, May 31.

The three-day filing period was announced earlier this week by the Pacific County Auditor’s Office, as they hope to attract at least one candidate for five local offices that did not receive any filings during the regular mid-May filing period.

One of the positions that garnered no interest was a seat on the Long Beach City Council. It’s the only peninsula-based seat that is included in the special filing period, which runs from 9 a.m. on May 31 through 4 p.m. on June 2.

Those interested in running can file online anytime during that time period, or file in person at the county auditor’s office in South Bend during their normal business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is located at 300 Memorial Drive.
