Naselle girls outscore Oakville 60-21

NASELLE — The Lady Comets took leads of 21-0 and 35-2 on their way to a 60-21 victory over Oakville on Jan. 15, to improve to 3-1 in the Coastal League and 6-5 overall.

Tayler Ford had two steals in the early minutes and scored 10 of the Comets’ first 15 points. Ford finished with 15 points on seven of eight shooting. She scored on baseline drives, transition plays, jump shots and a cut to the basket.

Kendra Leeland shot seven of nine. She hit several midrange jump shots to help Naselle extend its lead in the late second and early third quarter. Leeland also had four assists.

Ellie Chapman had three steals in a short span late in the third quarter. Her steal and three-point play in transition gave the Comets a 42-9 lead, and another steal and transition layup made it 51-9. She finished with four steals and seven assists.
