Next set of clamming dates
LONG BEACH — These are the next clamming dates and tides in Pacific County, contingent on continuing clean marine toxin test results. Beginning March 20 digging will switch to morning (midnight to noon only) low tides:

Surfside HOA holds benefit Chowder Cookoff
OYSTERVILLE —The Surfside Homeowners Association Community Relations Committee is holding a Chowder Cookoff, Raffle & Bake Sale on Saturday, March 28, at the Oysterville Schoolhouse, 3322 School Road. To win prizes, preregister a minimum five-quart pot of chowder at 360-666-4171 or by email at office@surfsideonline.org. Bring entries to the schoolhouse in a crockpot/instant pot by no later than 11:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on March 28. To taste and vote on the best chowder from noon to 2 p.m., there is a $5 entry fee. The raffle will follow while the votes are tabulated. The bake sale is from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to to the Peninsula Suicide Education Alliance. Free ‘Question, Persuade, Refer class’ coming up
KLIPSAN — Peninsula suicide Education Alliance plans its next free QPR class (question, persuade, refer) on Saturday, April 4, noon to 1 p.m. at the Peninsula Senior Activity Center. Space is limited so call ahead to reserve a spot: 360-665-3999.
Columbia River spring Chinook season underway
ILWACO — This year’s Columbia River recreational spring Chinook salmon fishing season is underway through April 8 from the Buoy 10 line upstream to Beacon Rock, plus only the Oregon and Washington banks (by hand-cast only for Washington) from Beacon Rock upstream to the Bonneville Dam deadline marker. For salmon and steelhead, the daily limit is six, with no more than two adults, and only one may be an adult Chinook. All wild steelhead and salmon other than hatchery Chinook must be released. Salmon must be at least 12 inches to keep. Shad retention is permitted, with no size minimum or daily limit.
