LONG BEACH — A man already facing charges for allegedly fleeing from a trooper with the Washington State Patrol is now facing new charges. The case comes less than a month after his arrest on Jan. 31 and nearly a year after the actual incident.
Jose A. Lizardi, 29, was arrested on Jan. 31 after he allegedly approached at a high rate of speed and passed WSP Trooper Thomas Beck in Seaview. Lizardi reportedly attempted to flee from Beck when the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The short-lived pursuit ended when Lizardi pulled into a residence near 67th Street and Sandridge Road and was taken into custody. Beck reportedly smelled the odor of intoxicants emitting from Lizardi.
According to court documents, Lizardi was given the option to complete a field sobriety test and declined, saying he wanted a lawyer. Beck acquired a search warrant to obtain a blood sample from Lizardi, which the man reportedly resisted.
Lizardi was booked into the Pacific County Jail for suspicion of DUI and attempting to elude law enforcement, and was also held on a Washington State Department of Corrections warrant.
According to court documents, the Pacific County Prosecutor’s Office filed a new case against Lizardi on Feb. 26 for an incident that transpired on March 4, 2025, that began in Astoria. Lizardi was reported to the Astoria Police Department for alleged reckless driving, consuming alcohol at a liquor store and public urination.
Court records note that the Astoria Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Lizardi. However, they do not explain when or why Lizardi ended up in the custody of the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office. Lizardi was taken by the sheriff’s office to the Pacific County Courthouse and processed for suspicion of DUI.
He allegedly pretended to blow into the Draeger breathalyzer machine and was only able to provide partial blood alcohol samples of .198%, .185% and .193%. He was also taken to Willapa Harbor Hospital and gave voluntary blood samples.
Lizardi was issued a summons on Feb. 26 to appear for an arraignment hearing on March 6, which shows it was being sent to his home in Tacoma. As of reporting, Lizardi remains in the county jail for the previous case and is being held in lieu of $25,000.
