Animal Shelter Report: After 900-plus days, Moose is still waiting

For nearly three years Moose has been waiting for stability, love, and a place to truly call home.
Moose is a 9-year-old male American Staffordshire Terrier mix weighing 80 pounds. He is currently in a foster home but will return to the shelter in early April. His foster family, a busy household with two children (now 8 and 10), cares deeply for him. However, life has grown increasingly full, and they never anticipated fostering for nearly two years. They believe Moose deserves more time and attention than they can now provide.
Volunteers and staff are urgently hoping another foster — or adopter — will step forward before Moose has to return to a kennel.
Moose is the perfect balance of calm and playful. He loves walks, tug-of-war, belly rubs, and lounging in the sunshine. Throw a ball and he’ll happily chase it, then settle in for snuggles. He’s incredibly affectionate and thrives on being close to his people.
He loves everyone he meets and does wonderfully with children. Gentle and patient, Moose has formed a special bond with the kids in his foster home. He also does well when left alone, free-roaming calmly without barking or separation anxiety.
Moose has allergies and takes medication, and if you foster him, the shelter covers that cost. In fact, all fostering expenses are provided, including food, veterinary care, medications, toys, and any supplies he needs while in your home.
Moose may do best as the only dog, but with a slow, structured introduction and several meet-and-greets, he could adjust to a canine companion. Cats are a no-go for Moose; he needs a cat-free environment.
As April approaches, those who know Moose hope someone will give this loyal, loving boy the soft place to land he so deserves.
Sundae: Extra sweet!
Meet Sundae, a three-year-old tuxedo girl with a big, bright personality.
Petite at just six pounds, she’s full of energy, curiosity, and affection, and she makes every visit an event. The moment someone comes to see her, she flops onto her back, rolls around in her bed, kneads the air with happy little paws, and purrs up a storm. It’s hard to get a good photo of her because she’s rarely upright! She’s far too busy being playful and soaking up attention.
Sundae has been with us for 46 days, patiently waiting for someone to notice her. She’s affectionate, fun-loving, and thrives on interaction, whether it’s gentle pets, soft words, or just being near her person. She’s the kind of cat who can turn a quiet afternoon into a silly, joyful moment and makes even small spaces feel full of life.
She would fit beautifully into almost any home that’s ready to give her love, attention, and companionship. If you’re looking for a devoted, playful, and endlessly charming companion, Sundae could be the perfect match.

We are on the hunt for fleece!
Our cats and dogs love their fleece blankets. If you have any new or gently used fleece blankets, we would be grateful for the donation. They help keep everyone cozy, comfortable, and feeling a little more at home while they wait for the perfect family to come along. You can drop them off during open hours, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Thank you.
