Animal Shelter Report: 300 days waiting — Yogi is ready for home
Published 6:10 pm Sunday, March 8, 2026
Yogi is a six-year, nine-month-old, 75-pound mixed breed who has been waiting for a home for nearly 300 days. That’s 300 mornings waking up in a kennel, 300 nights without a family to call his own.
And he is so ready.
Yogi is the kind of dog who settles into your heart quietly and completely. A polite couch potato at heart, he’s happiest simply “hanging out” with his people. He loves a good game of tug-of-war, splashing in the water and basking in the sunshine — whether that’s in the yard or on the beach. Mostly, though, he’s a low-energy guy who enjoys lingering walks, unhurried afternoons and cozy evenings by your side.
He’s affectionate, gentle and wonderfully easy to be around. In a foster home, he was great hanging out with kids, taking it all in stride with his calm, sweet nature. He comes when called, walks nicely with his people and would be perfectly content relaxing beside you on the couch — especially if you’re generous with those good old-fashioned butt scratches.
Yogi does well with other dogs but would need a cat-free home.
After 300 days of waiting, Yogi doesn’t need anything fancy. He just wants a home — a place to belong, to hang out, to love and be loved. He deserves beach breezes, cozy evenings and a family who sees just how special he is.
Could that be you?
Meet Mr. Winter
Winter is a handsome gray classic tabby with warm amber eyes and a curious streak that keeps him busy. At just over two years old, he still has plenty of kitten energy and loves batting around toys and exploring every corner to see what interesting things he might discover next.
When Winter first arrived, the shelter felt like a lot for him and he kept to himself. But little by little he’s been finding his confidence. Now he’s starting to seek out attention, leaning into pets and enjoying visits from the people he’s beginning to trust.
With a calm home and a little patience, Winter is the kind of cat who will truly blossom, turning into a loyal, playful companion who’s always nearby to see what you’re up to.
Come meet Winter and see if this sweet tabby is the missing piece of your home.
