Lewis County steps in after Pacific Transit shakeup

SEAVIEW — Pacific Transit System will be managed by Lewis County Transit through the end of the year after a deal was struck earlier this year.

The deal aims to allow the system’s board of directors time to find a new director following the recent resignation of former director Michael Wagner, who ran the system beginning January 2021.

The agreement will cost about $10,000 a month through at least Dec. 31. LCT Director Joe Clark will oversee both entities. Clark could not be reached for comment.

The management shakeup has resulted in one employee resigning from the administration and the termination of the human resources director. Another position was also reportedly cut, which paid an individual to lobby at the state legislature for funding.

Veteran’s Transport and a recently inaugurated Shopper Shuttle are not in danger of being shut down, a board member said, adding Clark is planning to make routes more understandable and make it easier to connect between counties.

The Observer will report on this matter in more detail in a future story.
