Letter: Schools already get enough money

In response to the letter regarding the tech levy which is up for a vote, it is a scam. The state in the court case in 2018 McCleary decision was ordered to fund all Washington public schools at 100 . Also the legislature just agreed to a $2.6 billion addition to the McCleary decision to fund tech courses, in addition to building upgrades, and teachers pay.

The tech levy hides the fact that the teachers union demands a huge salary increase for teachers and administrators in Ocean Beach School District — this is in addition to their fully paid salaries that the state pays to them. Also the Ocean Beach School District received millions from the covid relief fund in 2022. The school administrator has not made public a detailed break down of where that money was spent.

School levies are no longer needed and are a property tax burden, because the money they are demanding is already paid by the state. End the teachers union blackmail of taxpayers.
