There is nothing more precious than a child. They carry the past, live in the present and are the hope of the future. As a community, we have the amazing privilege to help make sure the very best is available to children as they navigate through life. One of the best gifts we can provide them on this journey is a good education.

The last several years of the Ocean Beach School District have been a bit … rocky. The bond fiasco and redistricting missteps shook the public’s confidence in the administration and the school board. But time heals rifts and finally there are conversations and discussions between previously opposing groups. Finally, there is movement towards solutions and improvements that put the students first in a reasonable and thoughtful manner. People are listening to one another, and better ideas abound.

Please vote yes on the levies and please remain vigilant to the needs of our school district. But also remember that it is essential to remain mindful of how the school board and administration continue to move forward. Community input is needed as well as community oversight. This is our ongoing responsibility as well as our privilege.
