Letter: Area’s dark secrets are covered up

Just saw the renewed efforts to solve the murder of Jeff Beach. His parents are holding out hope that someone will come forward. We’ve been waiting since 1999.

Our son Todd Denny was murdered and the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office said he committed suicide after their “lengthy” four-hour investigation. Everyone knew that was B.S. and yet the PCSO stuck with their story. We had evidence that we shared with PCSO that never made it in to his file. We even hired private investigators to show that he didn’t kill himself but PCSO could care less about the information provided since they solved their case — remember it only took four hours.
The people involved in his case — you know who you are — don’t have the guts to come forward, they’d rather hide behind their namesake in the community, sad but true.
And the other unfortunate act we were told was an investigation into murder would bankrupt the county. This shows where PCSO and the prosecutor’s office stand on violent crime. All they had to do was invite an outside agency and they couldn’t even do that. Our old friend was a state trooper and kept telling us something wasn’t right and yet the PCSO wouldn’t invite the state in to help.

Unfortunately, the coverups in Pacific County will continue until the end of time, unless the evidence is handed to them. The officers involved have since moved on, retired, or passed away yet the lack of accountability continues. After all, they have to take care of the all-mighty tourist dollar. The citizens are just collateral damage.
It’s a beautiful area with a lot of dark secrets. We wish all of the families affected by murders and any other violent crime peace, but we can say it never comes. I guess that’s the worst thing, not getting the truth from PCSO or the prosecutor’s office. Just my opinion.
