NASELLE – Alice E. Hauck, 71, lifelong resident of Naselle, died Sept. 20, 2005, in Naselle. She was born Aug. 10, 1934, in Astoria to John and Esther (Paavola) Johnson, both descendents of pioneer Naselle-area families. She graduated from Naselle High School in 1952.
On Nov. 11, 1952, she married Ervin Hauck, who was serving with the U.S. Air Force and stationed at the Naselle Radar Station. They established their home in Naselle where Mrs. Hauck was a homemaker and worked in canneries in Ilwaco. She also was a teacher’s aide at Naselle Elementary School and office manager for Naselle Water Company. She was a local distributor of Vanda Products and Fuller Brush. Mrs. Hauck was a charter member of the Naselle branch of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) Sorority and was active in its many community projects.
She had a passion for flower gardening and enjoyed watching the deer, elk, bear and birds that frequented her yard. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an avid reader of historical texts. Her family was her life and she frequently attended local school and commuity events in the area she dearly loved being part of.
In addition to her husband of 52 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Darrylin and James Eastham Jr. of Naselle; one son and daughter-in-law Donald and Karen Hauck of Kent; four grandchildren, Sean and Jamie Eastham and Colin and Liam Hauck; and one great-granddaughter Haley Eastham survive her. Her sister Irene Hanselman preceded her in death.
A celebration of life was heldon Sept. 26 at the Community Congregational Church in Naselle.
