Delbert Edwin Cox

LONG BEACH – Delbert E. Cox, 66, died Oct. 21, 2003 at his Long Beach residence. The son of Ewart and Ether (Briggs) Cox, he was born Sept. 14, 1937 in Woodsfield, Ohio. He grew up in Woodsfield where he graduated from Lewisville High School.
Mr. Cox operated a convenience store in Woodsfield for a number of years before moving to California. There he worked as a aircraft mechanic. He later lived in Spokane and then in Portland before moving to Long Beach about 20 years ago. He was a self-employed home repairman who assisted many Peninsula residents in numerous ways. He enrolled in a home correspondence course and operated B & D Home Inspection Service until the time of his death.
He attended Peninsula Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed many friendships, traveling in his motorhome, camping, walks on the beach and his dog and cat.
He and his first wife Kathleen were divorced. In 1967 he married Billie Wallace who died in 2001. Survivors include his daughter Suzanne Ginsburg; brothers Emerson and James Cox; sister Vera Byers; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m., at Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach. Memorials may be made to either the South Pacific County Humane Society or Penttila’s Chapel to assist them with final expenses.
