HEADLINE:

Duane has been searching for a place to call his own for three years. Despite being adopted and returned several times through no fault of his own, Duane’s spirit remains unbroken! His heart is full of love to give. Could you be the one to provide a place for this boy? We are seeking a long-term foster for Duane.

At 7 or 8 years old, this sweet senior is as low-maintenance as they come. All he needs is a cozy couch, a soft carpet, a TV to keep him company and a devoted human buddy. Duane is happiest when lounging by your side, enjoying a car ride, or soaking up the simple joys of home life.

Duane is great with gentle, medium-to-large dogs, but due to his arthritis he needs friends who will respect his slower pace. He needs a cat-free home. Duane’s arthritis does require some extra care, but don’t worry — the shelter will cover all medical costs, plus food, a comfy bed and toys. As a foster, the shelter will cover all of these costs. You just provide the love and security he’s been missing. We will also provide a support volunteer who knows Duane really well and will be on hand to answer any questions that come up.

This special and affectionate boy has a great sense of humor and is sure to bring a smile to your face every day. He’s also quite the looker; just one glance into his soulful eyes, and you’ll be hooked — as you can see from his photo here, rocking his St. Patrick’s costume!

After a long wait, Duane deserves to spend his golden years surrounded by love, comfort and companionship. Can you give him the long-term foster home of his dreams? Please complete an application and come and meet gorgeous Duane.

Spring auction

The shelter is looking for donations for the spring auction. Our auctions are an essential way for us to raise money. The shelter receives no federal, state, county or city funding, and we rely solely on community funding from our supporters and a small number of grants. So please donate your items for us to auction! You can leave these at the shelter (330 2nd St. NE, Long Beach) before March 28th, Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thank you!

We are open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday by appointment only for adoptions and surrenders. Stray drop-off, spay/neuter vouchers and pet food programs are available during open hours.

View our available cats and dogs and submit an online application at our websitebeachpets.com. An approved adoption application is required before scheduling a meet and greet with your selected animal.
