Obituary: Frank J. Carchedi

OCEAN PARK — Frank Joseph Carchedi was born in Utica, New York on Jan. 28, 1928. He passed away at 96 peacefully, and went to heaven, on April 17, 2024.

Frank was a beacon of warmth and selflessness, and his journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, and his passion for church and community. He was 17 when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably for four years. He married Clara L. Toczek in September1947. They settled in Seattle, and then moved to Ocean Park, Washington, upon retirement. Clara passed from a heart condition in 1989, at the age of 61. Frank remarried in 1990, Burnette C. Hammer and they later moved to San Jacinto, California. In 2018 they moved to Escondido, CA. Frank and Burnette were married for 34 years.

Frank played semi-pro baseball and learned to box in the Navy. He was an avid bowler and shuffleboard player. His beautiful singing voice won him many accolades and he enjoyed performing with Burnette in Seniors on Stage, in San Jacinto.

Frank was preceded in death by two children, Johnny and Tony Carchedi. He is survived by his wife, Burnette (Bunny), and two children, Joseph F. Carchedi, his son, and Clara Marie Carchedi, his daughter, along with four step-children. He had 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
