Letter: GOP has become the party of fear

For those of you who are not aware of the verdict on Trump and his company, what is a summary judgment?

It is a decision made based on statements and evidence without going to trial. It’s a final decision by a judge and is designed to resolve a lawsuit before going any further. One party in a case is entitled to judgment by the law, and summary judgment is used in cases where there’s no dispute about the facts.
Seems many on both sides of our ‘two-party’ system, are not happy with the two presidential choices who seem to be destined to run in 2024. Imagine ranked voting, in which any third choice could easily win? I know, and I will do what I can to avoid the chaos of the former administration, where many are either convicted, pardoned or awaiting trial.
Seems the fear Republicans have been spreading may be biting them in the rear. Republicans now fear voters, books, gays, Blacks and brown-skinned people. Some even fear our schools. Somehow, we need to find the fearless Republicans, like John McCain and others, who are able to call out wrong, even if it’s from their own party. Silence is compliance.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy signing a pact with the extremists has left him powerless to run Congress, possibly eventually leading to a shutdown, which will certainly hurt our already-difficult economic situation. The debt seems to me to be forefront among needs. Tax cuts initially enacted during Republican trifectas in the past 25 years slashed taxes disproportionately for the wealthy and profitable corporations, severely reducing federal revenues.
I pray we can quit squabbling and right the ship before it flounders.
