Letter: Faith column has pro-Christian agenda

The series “Time out for faith” should be retitled “time out for Christianity.” The topic of faith and how it is expressed across cultures is fascinating. Mr. Husberger, however, is not interested in exploring faith. His goal is to proselytize Christianity; a goal that excludes many readers of this newspaper.

I was particularly disturbed by his misuse of Jeremiah 1:4 to push a particularly damaging perspective about life, and then to suggest, without evidence, that the need to worship is embedded in our DNA.

If this newspaper wants to publish a series on faith, then invite a range of views from across our community. I’d love to write a column exploring the famous quote from Steven Weinberg … “Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”
