Fishermen trio sign to play collegiate sports

- Jacob Rogers served as the Ilwaco staff ace for the last two seasons, helping lead the Fishermen to the state tournament in three straight seasons for the first time in school history. Rogers will seek to continue his success on the mound for the Golden Rams of Anoka-Ramsey Community College next spring.
ILWACO — A trio of Ilwaco senior student athletes signed their official National Letters of Intent to play sports at the collegiate level during a special assembly last week.
Beckett Turner
Beckett Turner, a 6-foot-4 standout forward on the Fishermen basketball team for the past three seasons, will continue his basketball career at Tacoma’s University of Puget Sound next fall.
Beckett will join his brother Jaden, a 2022 IHS graduate, who is a sophomore guard on the Loggers roster.
Beckett Turner was named Pacific League MVP this past season en route to amassing 1,507 career points. Beckett tied for the league MVP award as a junior in 2023, when he eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone. As a sophomore in 2022, he averaged a team-high 18.8 points per game.
Beckett was also a member of the league’s all-academic squad for the past three seasons.
Boston Caron
Boston Caron, an all-league first-team catcher for the Fishermen for the past three seasons, will suit up for the Roadrunners of Oregon’s Linn-Benton Community College next spring.
Caron, who finished with a team-high batting average this season (.500), also swatted an area-best 14 home runs over the past two seasons. Caron was named to the all-league first team each of the past three seasons, including being named Pacific League MVP as a junior in 2023.

Rogers, named to the Pacific League first team as a junior and senior, will seek to continue his success on the mound for the Golden Rams of Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Minnesota next spring.
