Actors double up to share the spotlight

To give more opportunities to actors, the theater troupe has double cast two roles. Genice Normand, left, and Sydney Weston take turns playing Hannah, the housekeeper who helps raise the March girls. And Anjolena Wakefield and Isabel O’Connor, right, both portray Amy, the somewhat spoiled youngest sister in the March family.

Audience members won’t be seeing double, but backstage it is another story.

In keeping with a tradition at the Peninsula Association of Performing Artists, a couple of roles in the latest production of “Little Women: A Little Musical” have been double cast.

Anjolena Wakefield and Isabel O’Connor both portray Amy, the somewhat spoiled youngest sister in the March family.

And Genice Normand and Sydney Weston both play Hannah, the housekeeper who has helped raise the girls.

“We want to get as many people involved,” said director Carly Keone, “so we have them take turns doing leads and being in the ensemble. And sometimes people want to be involved, but cannot be there the whole run. It lets us be able to be flexible.

“It’s like being an understudy, but different, because they do all that work and sometimes don’t get to do a show. This works out really well for us.”
