Birding hot spots on the Long Beach Peninsula

Pacific County fields and wetlands are frequented by Roosevelt elk.

Have you ever thought about nature on the Peninsula and what you can see if you look with your eyes and ears? Included in what you can see is over 200 different species of birds, including waterfowl, shorebirds and many species of songbirds.

The Peninsula and environs are also home to over 50 mammals, including the Roosevelt elk, black-tailed deer, river otter, bobcat, raccoon and black bear.

Chinook, chum, and coho salmon spawn in the streams of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. Many species of insects, amphibians and flora make their home on the Long Beach Peninsula too.

The Peninsula has many different habitats including, grasslands, forests, sloughs, marshes, ocean beaches, bays, ocean waters, and rivers. The hot spots where wildlife can usually be seen are:
