Three people escaped serious injuries following a crash on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 21 near the Bear River Bridge that shut traffic down to one lane for quite some time. The incident happened at about 2:31 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3.

According to radio traffic, the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office was first on scene and found one occupant trapped inside a vehicle.

The preliminary information from the scene was that a car traveling southbound, driven by a woman in her 70s, struck a motor home that caused both vehicles to roll over.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the woman was extricated by emergency responders and transported to Ocean Beach Hospital as a precaution — she is believed to have only sustained minor injuries.

The occupants of the motor home were not injured and provided law enforcement statements that shed light on what occurred.

The crash is under investigation.
