Best start in nearly 20 years
The Fishermen, now 4-0, are off to their best start since 2005, led by a powerful running attack featuring a trio of backs that includes Pelas, Johnson and Miller.
Ilwaco has been perfect through their non-league schedule this season, beating Toutle Lake (16-6), Winlock (58-12), Wahkiakum (28-20) and Morton/White Pass (42-0).
The last time the Fishermen started the season with four straight wins was 2005, when Ilwaco won their first six games to start that year.
Ilwaco — the only remaining unbeaten team in the district — will begin their first of five straight division games this week, which includes Forks (1-3), Pe Ell/Willapa Valley (2-2), Napavine (2-2), Adna (2-2) and Raymond/South Bend (1-3).
Up next: Ilwaco (4-0) will host Forks in the first 2B Central-North Division matchup of the season Friday, Oct. 4.
