Letter: His Supper Table reports construction news

On behalf of the volunteers and board members of His Supper Table Thrift Store and Dinner Program, I would like to thank everyone in the community who donates to our program, who patronizes the thrift store, and who enjoys our twice-weekly free hot dinner program.

As chair of the HST Board, I’d like to bring you all up to date on our building expansion. Our contractor, Wynn Contracting Services, has been doing a great job with the construction. When they are finished, there will be some inside work to do before we will be ready to open the area for our bikes, linens, AV, furniture and Man Cave displays — hopefully, by the end of January, give or take.
Our free hot dinner program continues to serve take-out meals on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Everyone (and I mean everyone) is invited to try one or more of our healthy and tasty meals. We always have enough to go around, even on a day when we serve as many as 130 meals as we did several weeks ago. We’ve been doing this, now, for over 25 years and, with community support, we hope to continue our program for many more.
Volunteers for the store and food program are always needed so feel free to stop by and fill out an application. The store is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

We will take a break from food and store service from Dec. 21 through Jan. 2 to catch our collective breath but the store will be open and the dinner program will restart on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
FYI, half of the cost of our building expansion has been paid from savings and a part has been covered by a generous local grant. But the rest is being covered by a 10-year interest-bearing loan we will repay from money raised through Thrift Store sales. Any special gifts towards our building campaign will be gratefully received and we encourage those of you who support our program to consider including us in your end of year giving.
We hope to see you soon.
