Huckleberry Ridge Fire still burning Friday afternoon

The Huckleberry Ridge Fire continued to burn at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, in rugged terrain near the intersection of the Lewis-Pacific-Wahkiakum county lines.

Estimated to be about 200 acres, the fire is considered to be zero percent contained. No structures are currently in danger.

The fire is burning in a three-year-old clearcut and one-year-old reprod, 20 miles southwest of Pe Ell and north of Cathlamet. The area is extremely steep with variable winds.

The Western Washington Type 3 Incident Management Team is in charge of the fire. Its most-recent official update was Thursday afternoon. Aircraft and ground crews are working the fire.
