I encourage all community members to vote in the upcoming election, specifically I would like to encourage you to vote for Dave Tobin for county commissioner. Dave has a proven record of being reliable, thoughtful, honest, and calm. He loves helping people and always strives for the most fair solution to a challenge.

For 14 years I worked with Dave at Ilwaco High School. Dave was always the voice of reason and calm. Many crises, large and small, occur during a school year. Dave considered them all challenges and responded with compassion and a desire to find a solution that was fair to all involved. Many times I witnessed Dave listen calmly to each viewpoint and negotiate reasonable responses to difficult situations.

When Dave and I began working together I quickly learned how honest and reliable of a person he is. Whatever Dave said he was going to do, he did it. In 14 years I don’t think the high school hosted an event that Dave didn’t attend, from dances to sports games, concerts, and drama productions, he was always present and willing to lend a hand. Even after his retirement, I still count on Dave as a volunteer at home cross-country and track meets. He and Michelle are ever present guests at events that support our community.

Dave loves helping people. It has been a driving force throughout his career and life. He looks for the best in others and does what he can to help them be successful. Dave functions with a high level of integrity. Of the many times I brought work challenges to him, Dave would listen, and then give me the best advice for the most ethical and professional action I could take. This wasn’t always what I wanted to hear, especially when I was venting about something annoying, but I always appreciate Dave’s honesty, integrity, and calm reasoning.

With his years of experience and his compassion and commitment to our community, Dave is the ultimate example of a servant leader. Our community is in a better place with Dave Tobin at the helm.
