The group will be captained by Audrina Muessig, one of three seniors on the squad. The others are Evelyn Normand and Ava Myers-Marshall.

While there are no juniors, the sophomore class is well represented with Delaney Gray, Lily Holt, Maddie Dielman, Chloe Bergeson and Kayla Jensen. Kaitlyn Steenerson is the lone freshman.

Continuing as coaches are Blair Gray and Victoria Corona.

Gray said the group is eager to cheer at Naselle’s four Friday home games. They won’t travel to away games until the football squad advances to playoff contention.

Gray also coaches the winter squad during basketball games, and noted the fall squad has a slightly different style.

“We have to be louder, but we always feel we are not so much ‘in people’s faces,’ and it’s more forgiving for errors,” she said. “There’s more space, so there’s more freedom,” she added, gesturing across the football field. “Other than the temperatures later in the season, it’s really nice.”

Normand is one of four cheer squad members who play volleyball in the fall. Jensen, Dielman and Steenerson play too.

“It’s hard to balance, but we work at it,” Normand said. “I like the enthusiasm. With cheer we are kind of all one. Of all the sports, cheer is my favorite.”
