Time Out for Faith: Don’t be victimized by whirlwinds!

In Hosea chapter eight Hosea cries out to God saying about Israel: “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind (verse 7).” Today we live in a time of whirlwinds.
Whirlwinds are a column of air moving around and around in a cylindrical or funnel shape. Over one hundred tornadoes were created by hurricane Milton. Whirlwinds aren’t just physical, they are also spiritual. People get blown around in all kinds of ways. Haven’t we all had spiritual whirlwinds in our lives? Some get blown from job to job, relationship to relationship, from numerous troubles with the law, if not worse. Other types of whirlwinds include:
1.The whirlwind of political elections. Just as hurricanes and tornadoes form seasonally, so we have two and four year election whirlwinds. The whirlwinds called the 2020 election caused damage on January 6, 2021, resulting in law enforcement officers killed and injured. So what will happen with national elections this November and what will the aftermath be?;
2.The whirlwinds around artificial intelligence. Billions are being spent in preparation for how AI will affect economies. Will automation further take away people’s jobs?;
3.The whirlwinds around musician Taylor Swift. She has inspired millions of young people internationally and even attracted terrorists in Paris, who were prevented from hurting people at a cancelled concert earlier this year. Swift was chosen Time person of the year for 2023 and one of the top one hundred most powerful women in the world according to Wikipedia;
Numerous other whirlwinds seek to blow us around. What are we to do?
Why not ask God, even if you don’t believe in God. You have nothing to loose. Ask God, and see how God will respond. In fact, God already has responded to your deepest questions. How do I know this? God answered our questions by giving us His Holy Bible and His Holy Spirit. Why was the Bible written? Let the Bible speak for itself: “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, and that by believing on Him, you might have life in his name (John 20:31).
So, are you tired of being blown about by life? Look within, be honest. James, a brother of Jesus Christ, says that when we ask God anything, the only way to receive what He wants to give us is simply to believe on Him. James says, “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind (1:6)”.
Don’t be victimized by the whirlwinds of life! Believe in Jesus as God’s Son, and through his cross and resurrection receive new life!
