ILWACO — Public Hospital District 3 of Pacific County, also known as Ocean Beach Health, has announced the formation of a Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) to strengthen partnerships between patients, families and healthcare providers. This initiative aims to enhance care delivery by promoting transparency, open communication, diversity and inclusion.

“Our community’s voice is always at the heart of what we do,” said Merry-Ann Keane, CEO of Ocean Beach Health. “The Patient and Family Advisory Council is another step in strengthening that partnership — ensuring that together, we continue shaping care that truly reflects the needs of those we serve.”

The PFAC will serve as a platform for community members to share their experiences, provide input on healthcare services and collaborate with Ocean Beach Health to address potential disparities in care. The council will meet regularly to discuss issues affecting patients and families, ensuring that community voices play a central role in shaping healthcare policies and services.

Ocean Beach Health is currently seeking four to six community members to join the PFAC, including:
Former patients (age 18-plus)
Volunteers (age 18-plus)
Indigenous community members (age 18-plus)
Former patients (age 65-plus)
Young parents from the community

Council members will help strengthen the relationship between Ocean Beach Health and the community by identifying concerns, sharing feedback and assisting in the development of patient-centered initiatives. Meetings will be held every other month from late June onwards at Ocean Beach Health facilities.

Individuals interested in applying to be a part of this vital initiative can contact Christine Bighaus, RN, CPPS, CPHRM, Compliance Officer/Privacy/Risk Management, Ocean Beach Health, at 360-642-6350, or visit
