New slew of accidents at Sandridge and 101 sends several to hospitalSEAVIEW – On May 5 on Highway 101 at Sandridge Road there were two reportable accidents. Several others have also occurred recently at the historically dangerous intersection, but did not elict Washington State Patrol reports.

The first occurred at 11:44 a.m., when a 1991 Chevrolet pickup driven by Robert L. Chambers, 76, of Ilwaco was attempting to cross SR101 to travel northbound on Sandridge Road. His vehicle hit a 1992 Honda driven by Kevin J. Walker, 40, of Portland, Ore. Both vehicles were totaled, and Mr. Walker was transported by aid car to Ocean Beach Hospital for injuries.

The second accident occured at 8:04 p.m. the same day at the same intersection and involved three vehicles. A 1996 Ford Contour driven by Kristi Jo Parsons, 53, of Ilwaco failed to yield to the 2000 Dodge Caravan, driven by Holli Lynn Kimmer, 30, of Long Beach. The impact between these two vehicles caused the Caravan to strike the third vehicle involved, a 1999 Saturn driven by Tresau Winterroth, 70, of Ilwaco. The Contour and the Caravan were totaled and both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.

In Wahkiakum County, on SR4 at Milepost 13.99, a fatality accident occured on May 5. A 1993 Cadillac Eldorado, driven by Larry H. Truluck, 64, of Longview was traveling westbound on SR4 when it slid into the eastbound lane towards a 1998 Ford Expedition driven by Paul L. Godsil, 38, of Vancouver. Godsil swerved to avoid the Cadillac and went into a ditch. The Cadillac left the roadway, hit a tree and an embankment. Mr. Truluck died at the scene.
