- Former IHS standout Fauver finds success at Mt. Hood CC
GRESHAM – Ashley Fauver has earned a starting guard position for Mt. Hood Community College and is averaging over seven points per game this season. The 2004 Ilwaco graduate said, “Playing basketball was a surprise for me, but I’m loving it and it pays for my schooling.”
Fauver was in a physical education class when another player “recruited” her. “Our coaches are great, but they were hired and came up from California just before the season started, so they were looking for players,” Fauver explains.
Fauver scored 15 points in one game during a tournament in Everett and poured in 13 points in one half against Lane Community College. “I have played against Ashley Rodman and Brittany Cochran from Woodland and the team we beat had Whitney Evander from Tenino on it,” Fauver said.
Mt. Hood is 0-3 in the NWAAC and 1-14 overall.
“I hope I can play again next year,” Fauver said. “The coaches will be recruiting so I’m not sure.” She is majoring in business management at Mt. Hood and is the daughter of Doug and Kathy Fauver of Chinook.
