PORT OF ILWACO – Jenna Austin, coordinator of this year’s visits by the tall ships to the Port of Ilwaco, encourages everyone to take part in part two of this year’s visits by popular sailing vessels.
Numerous activities, including lots and lots of pirates, are planned during the ships’ second four-day visit beginning with the grand arrival luncheon Friday at 11 a.m. Free dockside tours of the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain will follow.
A large bus will be set up near the ships where visitors may purchase tickets and souvenirs.
The theme of this year’s visit is “A Nautical Renaissance.”
It’ll be all pirates, all the time, during this visit by the ships. A pirate living history encampment Saturday will include a ship-biscuit tasting and tips on how to prevent scurvy, musicians and authors of pirate books.
Commemorative “doubloons” are available at several locations and may be used for discounts at port businesses.
