Letter: Pro-Palestinian letter was welcome

It was with both sadness and a sigh of relief I read Tori Kovich’s excellent letter to the editor last week, “Think about what’s happening in Gaza.”

The slaughter of Palestinians by Israelis has been going on for 75 years, but for the past four months at a sustained rate of 100 to 250 people a day, not counting many of those lying dead in the rubble of their homes.
This systematic killing is going on all over in Palestine too, not just in Hamas territory. Most of the dead are children.
Yet no one I know cares about it! I feel unbearably isolated, completely surrounded by such an astounding indifference to what U.S. weapons, “intelligence” and tens-of-billions of dollars are facilitating.

So I’m deeply thankful to Tori (and the Chinook Observer) for that beautiful, heartbreaking letter, a simple plea for awareness of and empathy for the horrific torture the Palestinians are continuously subject to. Every day. Every night.
I’d dearly love to meet you, Tori, and other engaged souls now. If for nothing more than breaking through the chilling isolation I’m feeling.
