After a local business reported getting a “huge number of prank phone calls” from a residence, an officer made contact at 6:42 p.m. The homeowner said his elderly mother was probably the responsible party and he would deal with her.

On Jan. 8 at 8:30 p.m., a disturbance was reported at a downtown Long Beach tavern. When the individuals involved saw the patrol vehicle they dispersed down the street and inside the bar. When questioned by officers, every person inside the bar denied knowing anything about the ruckus.

On Jan. 9 at 12:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the street in front of a downtown Long Beach tavern. A “highly intoxicated” man standing outside the business said his baseball cap was missing and he wanted it back. The officer retrieved the cap and sent the man on his way.

At 12:15 a.m., due to the high level of intoxication of the individuals within the downtown Long Beach tavern and the escalation of problems in and around the establishment, LBPD closed the bar for the evening.

At 12:43 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Ilwaco Middle/High School for an assault. A 13-year-old female from Ocean Park was acting out and out of control. She allegedly hit and kicked the vice principal who was attempting to escort her to the school office. She was arrested and a charge of fourth-degree assault was sent to the juvenile department. The girl was later released to her mother.

At 11:18 p.m., officers were dispatched to a tavern in downtown Ilwaco for a report of a man with a gun. Before officer arrival three men left in a vehicle, which LBPD stopped at Sandridge and Hwy. 103. One passenger took off on foot from the vehicle. Another passenger, suspect Clark M. Kemper, age 33, from Long Beach started walking down the road and would not follow the officer’s commands to stop. The officer finally had to taser Kemper. Meanwhile the driver of the vehicle, Uriah Calhoun, age 28, from Ilwaco, said that Kemper did not have a gun but had his Asp baton in the waistband of his pants.

Officers interviewed witnesses at the tavern who said Kemper allegedly was arguing with a woman about the theft of $5. When one witness got involved in the conversation, Kemper picked up the front of his shirt and displayed an object protruding from the waistband of his pants. When asked if it was a knife, Kemper alleged stated it was a pistol. Others jumped between Kemper and the witness and then got Kemper out of the tavern and they left in the vehicle.

Kemper was charged with obstructing a law enforcement officer, making a false statement and unlawful carrying or handling weapons apparently capable of producing bodily harm. He was transported and booked into Wahkiakum County Jail. Calhoun was cited for third-degree driving with a suspended license.

On Jan. 11 at 1:11 p.m., Barbara J. Kannas, age 27, from Ocean Park was cited for third-degree theft after she alleged left a business without paying for merchandise.

Officers had several calls from the area of 4th Street North and Oregon Street regarding a woman with mental health issues.

Pacific County Sheriff’s OfficeOn Jan. 6 at 11:28 p.m., a deputy observed a traffic violation in the area of the 27200 block of “U” Street in Ocean Park. During the search of Pearson, suspected methamphetamines were found. Pearson was booked into Pacific County Jail for the warrants and for possession of methamphetamines.
