Obituaries: Michael Burton

LONGVIEW – Michael Judson Burton, former Peninsula resident, 65, died Oct. 19, 2009, in Longview, following a short illness. The son of Edward and Frances (Ohme) Burton, he was born in Longview on Feb. 18, 1944. He was raised in Seaview, residing on property his grandfather originally purchased in 1914. He received his education in Ilwaco schools and following graduation from Ilwaco High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a cook on board the destroyer USS Theodore E. Chandler DD717, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Burton loved the ocean and the outdoors. His greatest pleasure during the last few years was found in gardening. He resided the past few years in, Cathlamet.

One daughter, Samantha and his sister, Karen Harrell of Seaview survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters. No service will be held. He is, at last, free to roam. The guest book is available at www.penttilaschapel.com
