Toys for Tots
PENINSULA The Toys for Tots drive is underway led by Jennifer Reynolds and Connie Biggs of Pacific County Fire District No. 1. Toys and gifts are being collected and distributed locally to kids who may not otherwise have a Christmas gift to open this year. Businesses, organizations and community members are welcome to help in the effort by donating new, unwrapped toys at selected drop off sites. Toys for Tots donation drop boxes for new, unwrapped toys are at: All Seasons Kidstuff in Chinook; Bank of Pacific in Ilwaco; the Chinook Observer office, the Bank of Pacific, Dennis Company, KeyBank, and Great Northwest Federal Credit Union in Long Beach; Peninsula Senior Center in Klipsan; and Jacks Country Store, Bank of Pacific and Great Northwest Federal Credit Union in Ocean Park. Once Toys for Tots coordinators collect the donations, specific local agencies such as Head Start, the Elks and Eagles lodges, and PCFD No. 1 help them to distribute the gifts to select lists of needy kids ages one through 16. Help is especially needed to find gifts for the older kids around 12 to 16 years old. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity; all toy and monetary donations are tax-deductible. Checks made out to Marine Corps League Toys for Tots may be mailed to P.O. Box 213, Oysterville, WA 98641. For further information on how to help the local Toys for Tots drive or the local Marine Corps League, contact Connie or Jennifer at PCFD No. 1 at 665-4451.
