After almost 35 years in the grocery business, Ted and Joyce retired in 1985. They purchased a condo in Palm Springs, Calif., where they enjoyed living during the winters.
Ted was an active community member participating in several committees and clubs, which included the Lions Club, Water District, Naselle School Board, Naselle Lutheran Church and as a Little League coach. Ted was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies included spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren; golf, carpentry and working for his son, Randy, who also owned a grocery store in Ilwaco. He was also a long-time member of the Astoria Golf and Country Club and enjoyed his friendships there.
In 2010, Ted and Joyce moved to Burien to be closer to their family. Ted spent his time there enjoying his family and volunteering at the West Seattle Senior Center Thrift Shop.
