OYSTERVILLE — Teresa Wiegardt Goodwin and Andrea Weilgart Patten will perform at the Oysterville Vesper service next Sunday and, although they are both members of the Bayside Singers, they will be singing duets and solos without benefit of the rest of the group.

“Earlier billings to the contrary were incorrect,” according to Vespers organizer Carol Wachsmuth. “We weren’t sure about Andrea when the schedule was set, so we hedged our bets, you might say.”
Patten, who has been on an “enforced sabbatical” due to health issues, is a popular local mezzo soprano, well-known for her solo work with the Bayside Singers and for her participation in the PAPA (Peninsula Association of Performing Artists) musical productions at the Fort Columbia Theater. This will be her first performance in several years.
Goodwin, a soprano, is also a familiar figure at the Historic Oysterville Church where she most recently appeared in a Memorial Day Program both as a soloist and in a duet with her father, Dobby Wiegardt.

According to Director/pianist Barbara Poulshock, Patten and Goodwin will be singing duets on Sunday — two early sacred ones, a Mozart duet from “The Marriage of Figaro,” (followed by an aria from the same opera, sung by Goodwin) and two early American duets. In addition, Patten will be singing a group of Schubert songs, and Goodwin a group of Poulshock’s Emily Dickenson settings.
Officiating Sunday will be Father Dick Loop of St. Peter Episcopal Church in Seaview. Although he has been in attendance for several Vespers services this summer, Sunday’s service will be his first in an official capacity.
The summer Music Vesper Series, now in its 38th year, is sponsored by the Oysterville Restoration Foundation whose main responsibility is the maintenance of the historic village church. Tucker Wachsmuth, president of the foundation, is scheduled to present the traditional Oysterville Moment, telling a bit about the history of the church and village.
Accompanying the congregational hymn singing will be long-time Vespers organist Sandra Nielson.
