- Michelle Swendson, Matt Lloyd, Eric Swendson, Kathy Freitas and Willapa Complex Manager Jackie Ferrier were on hand to launch Willapa Refuge Red.
SEAVIEW — Michelle and Erik Svendsen at North Jetty Brewing teamed up with Friends of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge to produce a new limited edition brew. The launch of the new beer was held Nov. 13 in support of the work of the Friends of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge.
Each year North Jetty Brewing supports one of our community organizations. Their “2017 Giving Back Tap of 50 cents of every pint sold” will go back to the refuge friends group.
The new beer is aptly named Willapa Refuge Red. The Svendsens’ donation to the friends will be used for children’s education, community education and the building of the Natural Resource Center.
Many of the Friends of the Refuge were on hand to taste and enjoy the new light bodied amber ale, which comes in at 32 IBU/6.3 percent. It has “nice, delicate, pine notes from the Chinook and Western Red Cedar dry hop.”
Patrons were entertained throughout the evening with games of trivia based on questions about the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. North Jetty donated prizes to the winners of the trivia contests and sponsored a one-year membership to the friends, drawn through a raffle.
“It was a great evening of fun and entertainment,” the friends said in a press release. “Many thanks go to Michelle and Erik for their generosity and support for the work of the Friends of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. The next time you are in the mood for a pint, come to North Jetty Brewing and try a pint of Willapa Refuge Red and help the Friends of the WNWR at the same time! Get a pint while it lasts!”
