Animal Shelter Report: We have puppies!

Published 7:48 am Monday, March 18, 2024

Spring has sprung, and our puppies who came to us in early winter with their mama are now fully vetted and ready to add energy and joy to their new homes!

Meet Florence and Billy, 4-month-old littermates. They came to the shelter with their Mama Alice, so we know what the mom looked like, but don’t know anything about Dad. Rumor has it that he was a traveling salesman… Alice and her pups appear to be a very attractive combination of shepherd, yellow lab, and maybe a breed called “black mouth cur,” a breed popular in the southern U.S. The breed is described in references as “protective, kind, fearless, active, and trainable.”

These pups have basically grown up at the shelter and are very outgoing and friendly. They are used to being handled and walked by a lot of different people. At times, Florence can be a little shy with strangers, but she warms up quickly.

They are typical puppies, and have an amazing amount of energy. They love to run and play, and then collapse when they are finally tired. They will probably grow to be ideal family dogs, and the pups are already showing positive interest in the kids they meet at the shelter or on their walks.

Although raising puppies can be a lot of work, it is rewarding work. By raising your pup in the family and training them to adapt and fit in, they can become treasured members of the family, getting along with other pets and doing well with children.

Billy and Florence, as are most puppies, are works in progress. Our dedicated team of dog walkers are working with them on basic commands and manners, as well as potty training, and they are making good progress.

The pups’ adoption fees are $350, and they are fully vetted. All the vetting work has been done for their new family! They are spayed and neutered, have shots appropriate for age, are chipped, and flea treated. Come and meet these charming pups — all that is left to do is give them love and make them part of the family! To submit an adoption application and to meet the pups, go to our website beachpets.com and follow the instructions under the “Adopt “ section.
