WILLAPA BAY — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has reduced the daily limit to one adult salmon in Willapa Bay and its rivers and tributaries. The state is also requiring anglers to release all wild or unmarked coho salmon.

The restrictions take effect on Jan. 1. The affected area includes Willapa Bay, Bear River, Fork Creek, Naselle River and all forks, Nemah River and all forks, Niawiakum River, North River, Palix River, Smith Creek, Willapa River, and South Fork Willapa River.

The other regulations listed in the 2017-18 sport fishing rules pamphlet remain in effect.

WDFW plans continue to monitor the progress of coho for rest of the Willapa Bay run.
