PORTLAND — Dorothy Mary (Busse) McClure, 88, died on Oct. 19, 2018, in Portland. She was born in Portland, Oregon Dec. 31, 1929 to Robert and Elida (Erickson) Busse at home in the house her dad built and is still standing. As an infant the family moved to Upper Naselle Road (Deep River), Naselle, Washington on 320 acres.

She attended Naselle Schools and graduated from Naselle High School in 1947. She worked in Portland for Sprouse Reitz Co., Pacific Telephone & Telegraph, Bayley Mfg. Co., Hanford Nuclear Plant in Richland, Washington, in Portland for Nat’l Biscuit Co. and again for Pacific Telephone & Telegraph for 25 years.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening especially her rose garden, crocheting, digital photography and preserving family pictures, history and childhood home life. She would reminisce about picking little wild blackberries so mama would make a pie or how the Busse children had perfect attendance and the only time she lied to her mama was when she skipped school, went into the woods, read a book all day and then joined Art when he got off the school bus to go home.
In 1962 she married Douglas McClure. She has three children: Sharon Holmlund (Jon) Carlsbad, Calfornia; Albert McClure of Vancouver, Washington and John McClure of Portland, Oregon.

She is survived by her children; grandchildren, Erik (Chelsey) Holmlund of New York, NY, Karl Holmlund of Sunnyvale, California, Gabby McClure of Tacoma, Washington and Zach McClure of Vancouver, Washington0; and her brothers, Walt and Art of Naselle, Washington. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, and siblings: Robert, Albert, Ed, Margaret Nermo and Ruth Allingham.
Services were held at Naselle Lutheran Church on Nov. 3, and she is buried at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle. Her guestbook is at www.penttilaschapel.com.
