ILWACO — Recreational Pacific halibut fishing in the near-shore area of Marine Area 1-Ilwaco will be open seven days per week starting this Thursday, May 24, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife said in a Tuesday press release. The all-depth fishery in Marine Area 1 remains closed.

WDFW said it took the action because there is enough quota remaining in the near-shore halibut fishery to increase the number of days per week it is open to seven days per week from the previous Monday through Wednesday schedule.

Coordinates for the near-shore fishery are available online: wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/creel/halibut.
