Time Out For Faith: Believe by singing through 2025

When we feel like we need a “pick up” physically, we have many choices. For some its a morning cup of coffee, or a homemade protein shake, or an early morning run. I suggest when we feel down or need a boost of energy we feed our spirit by singing short Gospel choruses.

Strength isn’t just physical — it’s spiritual. Why do I say this? Because each of us are created by Almighty God with a spirit. God is clear when He tells us: “Not by power, nor by strength, but by my spirit, says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).” True strength comes when you invite God’s Spirit to touch your spirit. Just as we feed our bodies, so also we need to feed our spirits through singing Gospel songs.

Why is this important? Because the most universal language spoken is music. Everyone enjoys some type of music. Haven’t we all sung in the shower? Music is so basic to everyday life. I’m amazed how little children so often surprise us by singing the McDonald’s jingle from watching television commercials.

Singing scripture may sound new or weird, but doing this is as old as time itself. The Bible book of Psalms were written to be sung. David, composed many psalms while shepherding sheep. Before becoming King, he was hired to play his harp and sing psalms to King Saul. Even today, in different brands of Christianity, the psalms are sung or chanted in worship.

Singing is so different than just saying something with your head. Music and scripture coupled together provide a therapy we all need. I especially call your attention to a free resource you can google called: Communion: A Sing Along of God’s People in Harmony — from SoundCloud. Click on the SoundCloud link and enjoy numerous short sung scriptures. Recovering from past surgery years ago I listened to these and found this to be great spiritual medicine for my spirit as well as my recovering body.

Even better than hearing someone else sing scripture is you just singing a jingle to yourself. My favorites are the short jingle entitled, “He is Lord” or singing the Lord’s Prayer. Or how about the first verse of “Amazing Grace or “How Great Thou Art?” These songs sung to yourself go down as smooth as a milk shake.

Spiritual belief can be expressed many different ways. Singing choruses are as good for you as nuts and cheese, a protein pick up. In Acts 16:25-26 we see Paul and Silas in jail for their faith, singing scripture songs, which led to their being freed from jail.

As we face life’s challenges in 2025, sing: “Everyday with Jesus is sweeter then the day before. Everyday with Jesus I love Him more and more. Jesus saves and keeps me and He’s the one I’m waiting for! Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.”

Assert and strengthen your belief in Jesus Christ, by singing your way through 2025!
