I would like to applaud Matt Winters for the great “Editor’s Notebook” piece on our wonderful Willapa National Wildlife Refuge.

The refuge is one of the things I love the most about our south county area. Watching the work that has been done in the years I have lived here has been amazing. The restoration of wetlands, tidal creeks, and removal of invasive species, all contribute to the health of the environment we live in and enjoy daily.

Thank you to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and especially to Jackie Ferrier, our local refuge manager for having the vision to preserve and restore these lands.
