Ilwaco got production from its bench early on Friday. Kaytlenn Whelden came in about four minutes in and hit three-pointers on back-to-back possessions. Tiana Ramsey forced a travel at mid-court and banked in a jumper for a 16-4 lead after a quarter.
Kemmer dominated with ten points in the last 4:20 of the second quarter. Kemmer has a talent for knowing where the ball is going to be, especially during chaotic moments; often the ball finds her right under the basket, unguarded.
After a blocked shot by South Bend’s Karley Reidinger, as everyone else scrambled for the ball, Kemmer quietly came open underneath and scored on a pass.

Ariana Bell stole the subsequent in-bounds pass, leading to another layup by Kemmer. A few plays later, Bell and Estella Sheldon pressured a South Bend player in the back-court, Glenn pounced and found Kemmer under the basket for two more easy points.
After back-to-back three-pointers by Reidinger cut Ilwaco’s lead, Kylie Gray zipped a pass out of the low post to Kemmer, who buried a 15-footer from the baseline. Kemmer added another basket underneath on a Glenn assist for the 32-15 halftime lead.
Seven of Kemmer’s 12 rebounds were offensive, as were six of the 10 rebounds from Sheldon, as Ilwaco controlled the interior.
Glenn scored her 21 points in stride, never dominating the ball and rarely keeping it for more than a few dribbles. Between her scoring and assists, she accounted for almost half of Ilwaco’s points.
Ilwaco improved to 13-1, 12-0 in Pacific League play, a game ahead of Ocosta.
South Bend fell to 7-5 in the Pacific League. Ilwaco, eighth in the 2B RPI rankings at week’s end, will visit Pe Ell on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 6:00 p.m.
