PUYALLUP — Abby Knopski and Sophia Marsh each had a dominant hitting performance in Ilwaco’s league opener, leading the team to a 25-9, 25-10, 25-12 victory over Chief Leschi Thursday, Oct. 3.

Knopski had seven kills and only one error in 12 attempts. Marsh added six kills in 11 tries and served five aces.

Katie Glasson was perfect serving, getting all 17 attempts in bounds, including two aces. Ilwaco got 16 points on her 17 serves.

Ilwaco improved to 4-2 overall. The Fishermen host North Beach Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., visit Tacoma to face Life Christian Thursday at 6:15 p.m., and host Ocosta Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.

Ilwaco tops Pe Ell 3-0

ILWACO — Sabrina Lessenden had seven digs and Tiana Ramsey added another four, each without an error, boosting Ilwaco’s defense in a 25-15, 25-19, 25-19 victory over Pe Ell Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Sophia Marsh had a team-high five kills. Alyssa Marsh added four kills and just one error. Jaymie Patana got all 16 serves in-bounds, producing 15 Ilwaco points, including three aces.

Officially the game was part of the teams’ non-league schedule; they will face each other in league play later in the month.
