Lady Comets shut down Willapa Valley 55-24

NASELLE — The Naselle Lady Comets (2-0) demolished the visiting Willapa Valley Vikings (3-3) 55-24 on Friday, May 14 in Naselle.
After a tight opening quarter, Naselle held a slim 12-11 lead before the Lady Comets took control of the league matchup.
In the second quarter, Naselle opened up a 12-point lead with a smothering defense where they only allowed 7 points in the period to take a 30-18 advantage into the half.
Naselle kept a vice on the Viking defense in the second half, limiting Willapa Valley to only six points, including only one in the final period to earn a 55-24 victory.
Naselle sophomore Lauren Katyryniuk was the catalyst for the Lady Comet offense in pouring in a game-high 29 points. Willapa Valley junior Chayse Coady led the Vikings with 10 points.
