LONGVIEW — WSU Master Gardeners present weekly free online programs on Tuesdays at noon.
May 6: Selecting plants while shopping at a plant sale — Join WSU Master Gardener John Crowe and discover the secrets to selecting the ideal flowers and vegetable starts when shopping for plants. Learn to avoid common pitfalls and how to select healthy plants to transfer to your yard.
May 13: Growing Melons — Melons are a delight to eat, especially when they are picked fresh from your garden. Join WSU Master Gardener Tahnee Knape as she dives into the world of successfully growing melons. In this engaging session, she’ll cover the varieties you can cultivate, share tips on their care and help you navigate the potential pitfalls along the way.
May 20: Growing your own healthy food on a budget — Nothing beats the taste of eating vegetables out of your own garden. WSU Master Gardener Jen Swanson will teach you the ins and outs of planning and planting a bountiful harvest. Uncover the secrets to producing healthy food when a limited budget and resources confront you. You can gain an early advantage that results in vibrant, healthy plants.
May 27: Spice of Life (Growing Herbs) — WSU Master Gardener Terrie Phillips will show you how to plant, grow and harvest the most popular herbs that you can enjoy fresh from your own garden. What to do with herbs after harvest will be discussed, such as in preserving, storage and easy usage of these flavorful plants.
