SOUTH BEND — Join the Willapa Players for an evening of murder and a chance to guess ‘whodunit’ in their presentation of Agatha Christie’s classic play, “The Mousetrap.” Just as Monkswell Manor opens their doors as a boarding house, a woman is murdered in London and a blizzard is sweeping the country. By evening, all the strangers gathered at the manor are stranded by the storm. And what strange guests they are, too.

Eccentric architect Chris Wren (Jenny Allan) is the first to arrive, followed by the ill-tempered Mrs. Boyle (Nadine Zakel) and ex-military man Major Metcalf (Jim White). Hailing from somewhere in Europe, Miss Casewell (Jenivieve Hubbard) is the last to arrive. The newly married proprietors, Giles Ralston (Russ Wiitala) and his wife Mollie (Charity Pitts), are knee-deep in suitcases, commands and complaints, but at least everyone has arrived. Well, everyone except for the uninvited Mr. Paravicini (Mickey Braun), whose car overturned in the snow and Sergeant Trotter (Kelly Rockett), who skis through the blizzard to offer the house police protection, oh dear.

What will happen next? Join us to find out. Performances are April 24, 25 and May 1, 2 at 7 p.m. with matinees on April 27 and May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Willapa Playhouse, 125 Spruce St., South Bend.

The Willapa Players are pleased to present “The Mousetrap,” which opened in Britain in 1951 and is the longest running play in theatrical history. It’s a classic whodunit and a real crowd pleaser — come and see for yourself.
